Madrid – El Escorial Tour

DISCOVER THE CHARM OF HABSBURG MADRID

Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial

El Escorial

Once our driver has picked you up at your hotel, we head for the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the imposing work commissioned by King Philip II and designed by Juan de Herrera at the end of the 16th century. A visit to this remarkable building, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, takes a minimum of two hours.

Tapas in Madrid

After the visit to El Escorial we return to the capital and continue our route by sampling the famous tapas, the ideal way to recharge for the rest of the day. We take a break for a bite in one of the Spanish capital’s most classic establishments, some of them over a century old.

Museo del Prado

Museums of Madrid

Madrid is home to some of the world’s most important art galleries, such as the Prado Museum, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen-Bornemisza. We invite you on a short visit to one of them to enjoy masterpieces by painters such as Velázquez, El Greco, Goya, Dalí and Picasso.

Habsburg Madrid

To round off the day we explore the so-called Madrid de los Austrias (Habsburg Madrid), the medieval heart of the capital and its later expansion during the reigns of Charles I and, above all, Philip II, the most significant monarchs of the House of Habsburg. Our driver takes you through such emblematic spots as Calle Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de la Villa and Plaza Mayor before the tour ends at your hotel.
